Box 1
Somebody who knows what the future capability requirement is and does what is necessary in their role because they want to.
Box 2
Somebody who thinks they are doing what is necessary but is losing (lost?) contextual understanding because they aren’t looking forward enough and working out what is required. Consequently the effort they are putting in is becoming increasingly ineffectual.
Box 3
Somebody who has insight, but doesn’t apply it into their current role. These people are frustrating to work with because they could contribute much more.
Box 4
Somebody who has lost the plot, and for whom things will only get worse unless they change themselves or change roles.
Note:
The speed and direction of travel are as interesting as the actual positions. This is not a deterministic model, people can change positions; positively or negatively in unexpected ways.
