Some Useful Ways To Improve Your Internet Home Working Productivity

Many people use the internet to work from home.  Here we list some quick and easy ways to improve your internet productivity.

  1. If your company’s IT makes home connecting to the office and working a problem give them hell.  Organise your complaints into action, don’t let the company off by suffering in silence!
  2. Sort out your own computer for optimum internet surfing. Use an excellent freeware utility such as ccleaner.com to make your computer run faster.
  3. Learn how to use Google. See our article 12 Ways For Sales People To Improve Their Use Of Google As A Research Tool.
  4. Organise your favourite web sites into folders that can easily be indexed and searched.
  5. Don’t be an Explorer slave, investigate other browsers such as Firefox or Chrome, find the one that works best for you. Google’s Chrome is reckoned by many to be the fastest.
  6. Make sure your broadband connection is optimised. Use speedchecker. Challenge your ISP if you are not getting the advertised speed you’re paying for.
  7. Investigate an iplate.
  8. Check your modem is set up correctly, visit your ISP’s website, or put the ISP and modem’s name into Google and read the forums.
  9. Locate the sites that are talking about your industry, where your customers congregate, where people might be talking about your company. These sites exist – find them.
  10. Read interesting blogs that talk about your industry, perhaps start your own.
  11. Use RSS feeds to push content to you so you don’t have to go looking for it.
  12. Find the best newspaper site for your needs. FT.com and Guardian.co.uk are two of the best in the UK.

Work on the principle that the internet has the answer, you either have to know where to look, or know how to pose the question. Happy surfing!
